Here at Ground Zero Labs we are always working on practical applications of innovative technologies to solve real-world problems. Our 'Concept Product' area showcases some of the exciting ideas that our designer are currently bringing to life.
Sea Sentry Overview
Unmonitored munitions dumped on the ocean floor present a serious and volatile global problem that
demands immediate attention. Conventional weapons from World War I and World War II, along with their
modern counterparts, sit at the bottom of our oceans, seas, and waterways. As these weapons deteriorate,
they expel hazardous substances into our marine ecosystem and become increasingly unsafe. However,
little has been done to address this issue because of the associated clean-up costs and a lack of
technological resources. Until now.
Here at Ground Zero Technology we have been researching a focused response to the global hazard of unmonitored munitions dumps: The Sea Sentry. The Sea Sentry is being designed to remotely monitor our waterways and marine ecosystems for harmful chemical emissions on a continuous, real-time basis. It is a self-powered, intelligent unit based on the successful underlying technology of our Centurion monitoring posts. The Sea Sentry also uses a Satellite link secured using our E-crypt solution to send data from anywhere in the world. It's robust sensor array can detect a range of harmful chemical substances and elements including: mercury, lead, other heavy metals, phosphates, and chromates. Sensor readings are then processed using an onboard, fully redundant central processing unit. The unit has an intelligent power management system with built-in renewable energy sources that include solar and mechanical wave devices, which currently give it an expected useful life span between 2-5 years. Furthermore, once deployed in the field, Sea Sentries can be monitored remotely from one central location using our H.O.D.M.S. system.
The Sea Sentry will empower governments and NGOs to cost-effectively monitor underwater munitions dumps and prioritize scare resources for clean-up operations to keep our oceans, seas, and waterways safe for years to come.
