On-Site Communication Auxiliary Radio (O.S.C.A.R.)
Core unit of GZT's emergency response communication platform
O.S.C.A.R. Overview
The O.S.C.A.R., or "On-Site Communications Auxiliary Radio" , is the core unit of our emergency response
communications solution. It is the world's most portable, rugged system for large scale deployments of instant,
self-sustaining radio and internet communications. Upon its arrival on-site, the O.S.C.A.R. can be setup within
30 minutes and achieve a broadcast radius of over 25 miles. The optimal location for each O.S.C.A.R can be
predetermined prior to deployment using our radio mapping software. Once operational, the unit will run on
batteries for approximately 5 days without intervention and also includes solar panels and a diesel generator
for auxiliary power.
The O.S.C.A.R. comes ready for ground transportation and is also engineered to fit the exact dimensions of military transport pallets. It is compliant with all regulations for air transport and the design parameters account for high altitude pressures that the unit may be subjected to while in flight. Shock-absorption skids are available for effective deployment by helicopter. In addition, the O.S.C.A.R's enclosure is constructed out of strengthened aluminum and is also available in a reinforced plastic based composite. Because radio hardware can be very unforgiving in transport, we have incorporated three layers of shock-absorption protection. The outer skids absorb any initial impact, a rugged case around each radio provides the second layer of protection, while each technical component inside these cases also has a third absorbent layer.
Deployed O.S.C.A.R. can be integrated with our proprietary Home Office Device Management System (H.O.D.M.S.) via a satellite link secured using our E-crypt encryption solution. The H.O.D.M.S. will allow you to check your O.S.C.A.R.'s equipment and sensors such as generators, battery power, solar power, internal temperature, etc... It will also allow you to monitor environmental conditions like current atmospheric events and air quality reports. The H.O.D.M.S. will even give you the ability to remotely troubleshoot, bypass and shutdown subcomponents of the O.S.C.A.R.'s or the entire unit. We also offer a 24/7 monitoring service from our control center.
Voice and data communications are facilitated via our proprietary triple band antennas that accommodate the three most commonly used frequency in wireless networks: 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz. This offers your emergency response team maximum flexibility in the field and also allows these frequencies to be secured or left open as the situation demands.
The O.S.C.A.R. houses all the required equipment and proprietary software to support a complete emergency communication platform for devices including: our proprietary S.A.M. units, other RF radios; DOIP/VOIM/GSM/CDMA enabled phones, handhelds/PDA's and laptops.
But when the focus turns from response to recovery the O.S.C.A.R. offers something others do not: The unit can remain behind, so it can be integrated with our S.A.M.s into a Rural Access Network (R.A.N.) that forms the basis of a permanent and powerful new telecommunications infrastructure.
